Turtle Shell- Ceramic and Glass
Turtle Shell- Ceramic and Glass
Ceramic turtle shell decor. Mostly sculptural and somewhat functional, this container is made with discarded communal studio clay and earthenware found locally. The texture was created with cornmeal sifted out of pizzeria wood ash (a byproduct of a sustainable glaze).
This work is part of a series called: Conscious Oddments. Work consists of discarded materials designed for the presently human home & the future oceanic home. The upcoming generation to inherit these objects could be our underwater neighbors due to marine pollution and rising sea levels. I hope when it is out of use, the sea sponges and coral take hold of this stone
