Collection: conscious oddments

Clay scraps, broken glass, plastic bags, and newspaper pulp form treasures in Conscious Oddments. Living at the shore, I see every manufactured morsel of trash accounted for in the high tide line. All trash will meet the sea due to commercial disposal or rapidly rising sea levels. My oddments, too, will become submerged in the future. The porous terracotta planters will grow sea sponges, crabs will seek refuge in the sandblasted glass cups, the wall hooks will spawn coral reefs, and lamp bases will house eels or barnacles. Each object is designed to be functional in the modern human house and continues to function once they are inherited by the underwater generation.
